Vice Commerce Minister Li Fei attended the WTO Small Group Ministerial Meeting on Development and E-commerce

On December 11, the United Arab Emirates convened a video conference on WTO development and e-commerce. Trade ministers or their representatives from 36 WTO members, including China and the United States, and WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala attended the meeting. Vice Minister of Commerce Li Fei attended and delivered a speech.

Li Fei said all members should continue to enrich the list of outcomes of MC13with a sense of urgency to ensure the success of the meeting and consolidate the confidence of the international community in the multilateral trading system. China supports tangible outcomes in development areas at MC13, such as the extension of support measures for graduating LDCs, and the importance of policy space for industrialization in developing members. China calls on more members to join the Agreement on Investment Facilitation for Development and jointly push for the integration of the Agreement into the multilateral framework. China supports the conclusion of the Work Program on E-Commerce at MC13, and the extension of the current moratorium on customs duties on electronic transmissions to MC14, so as to create a sound institutional environment for the development of digital trade.
