The second meeting of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement Joint Committee was held in Australia

On April 16, the second meeting of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement Joint Committee was held in Canberra, Australia. The meeting was co-chaired by Li Fei, Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce and George Mina, Deputy Secretary of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The two sides agreed that the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries had charted the course for deepening bilateral economic and trade cooperation. The two sides spoke highly of the results achieved since the implementation of the agreement, fully affirmed the important role of the agreement in bilateral economic and trade relations, and committed to further unlocking the potential of the China-Australia FTA and deepen bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the FTA since its entry into force in the areas of goods, services, investment, finance, movement of natural persons, health and phytosanitary measures. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on topics of concern, and discussed the overall review of the agreement and the next step of work.
